I had one day off after snowdonia, then on the Monday it was back to it. After some awful runs on the Monday and Tuesday i had pain in my right foot. I seen the doctor at work, he said i had tendentious said and to rest up for a couple of days. (gutted) By Saturday i was all better and started training again. Ive managed to have six days of two and half to three hour runs, they weren't to bad but i could have done better, i am lacking motivation.
I am reading forum posts on the beacons ultra, i think almost everyone doing the event has done it before or are experienced ultra runners and i think that's my problem, its getting me down. I am thinking of how good everyone is then the there's me, never run an ultra before.
The course has altered a bit, it includes a hard mountain climb , i went up today and almost got blown of the top. Ive decided to follow the two week taper program for the beacons as i did for snowdonia. I wonder how I'll do?
andrew - can i offer a bit of friendly advice.
ReplyDeletesto worrying! you'll be fine. and stop worrying about what others have or havent done. you cant affect that. all you can do is go out and enjoy it. the rest will take care of itself. you've put enough training in.
my approach to my first ever was just to enjoy it and finish it. i did both. you will too.
if you pace it right you'll find it easier than a marathon..i do anyway.
besides i reckon you'll be 1st man and dog home!
keep the faith.
thanks dave, your right, enjoying is most important. My wife has put a stop on me taking jasper, she worries about him. If i do well on this one she'll let me take him next time.
